To start off with I have had the car since 1986 after my dad bought it in Vancouver Wa for $700 in the lovely color of forest green. Of course I had to roof his house before my step mom would let him sign it over to me. The doors were tied shut with rope. The windows wouldn?t roll down or up and the interior was about as gone as it could be. As time went by I fixed the floor got all the doors to work and even got it running while loosing a quart of oil every 30 miles and having to hold the carb open with a screwdriver. It finally died after the radiator found its way into the fan in 1991 going to college. |
So there it sat until I got back from Basic Training, Airborne school and Ranger Indoctrination. Upon getting home my '46 Willyz CJ2A was also dead. I saved my money and decided that the Landshark had to live first. So in went a 350 Stoker that I had a friend in Portland build. Once again it became my daily driver. Even used it to bring my daughter Mya home from the hospital in 1993. By then it had turned mostly black with flying tiger teeth. |
Time went by and things got better for it. New rims, disc brakes, wiring kit and a lot of body work brought it into its own. But I still needed paint. Off to the local paint shop and turning the pages of the chip sheets I found a magenta that worked perfect for her. Years passed and I has just about fixed all the bugs in it including putting a 700R4, out of a Silverado. I drove it to Florida from Idaho for an Air force Special Opps school (TACP). Then back for the holidays. Of course I had to go back for the girlfriend in Florida. Then to New Mexico to see my buddy Roseberry. Now back to Florida followed by my most recent trip back home, for good, to Seattle. Now keep in mind all those trips were done in less than 15 months. I had one lady destroy my front bumper after spinning out of control in front of me in Boise. The only other problems I had were a few minor mechanical issues during the first two trips. So there I was almost home to Seattle. I was towing an 8 foot Uhaul and decided to take a trip over Chinook pass in the Cascades 70 miles from home. I felt blessed making it past a mud slide with boulders the size of my car. As I headed back down the pass I rounded a bend in the road, Next thing I knew I was sliding on pine needles as a tree fell down right in front of me. |
So here in lies the problem. I didn?t have it insured as a classic. And after buying it back from my insurance company there is not enough money to get it running again. The frame is good believe it or not so as I see it all I need are a few minor parts and a few large parts. $2500 should at least get it back on the road again. As I get my head above water I will be putting what I can away to get my baby moving again. So in the mean time if anyone feels like a dollar or any extra parts are not to much to send my way for the LANDSHARK then feel free. I have never asked for anything before from anyone and I built the whole thing, except the engine, by my self. I just hate having her sit there looking so bad. Thank you ahead of time and I look forward to hearing from you. |
Just a small side note. I would like to thank Cliff and his family at Cliffs Classic Chevrolet in Porltalnd OR http://www.cliffsclassicchevrolet.com/ . Anytime I needed something in town or cross country they got it to me. |
